Born and raised in the North Woods of Aitkin County, Minnesota, Liz Kilgo grew up in a small country shack with her parents, brother and sister.  Spending time as a child making up songs while doing chores, her early musical inspirations included the sounds of Hank Jr., Dolly Parton, Brooks and Dunn, Reba McIntire, Kenny Rogers, and Willie Nelson.

The growing up years were inclusive of Liz’s Dad playing guitar around the house, which always inspired her musical interest.  Liz would also assist her Grandfather with yard work, and listen while he made up little rhyming songs, which soon became a habit for Liz as well.  She began writing songs at 9 years old, and would go on to take part in school bands, choirs and plays.

Songwriting became even more serious to her at 13 years old.  Then forming her first band with her cousin and sister, she began recording her original songs.  Liz was contacted by a modeling school in Minneapolis, MN at age 14, but shortly following, she left the state with her mother, and this opportunity faded.

After high school, Liz continued her education, worked as a waitress, and against the odds, put herself through college where she studied music and honed her skills.  She went on to write gospel music, recording songs that were marketed to radio stations in Europe.  Liz’s Dad took her first recordings to the local radio station in Aitkin, MN, where they were played by request on the morning show for 2 years as “Positive Country Music”.  The response from these recordings drew her back to her country roots, and she began writing country music once again.

Following many hours of vocal training, and self-produced studio recordings, the dream would not die, ultimately leading Liz to Nashville, Tennessee, where she frequented local writer’s nights and got her feet wet, as an up and coming artist, in the heart of the Music Industry.  After being in Nashville only a year, Liz’s talent was randomly discovered on the internet by former Music Business Executive, now Author and Industry Coach Ric Taylor.  Quickly recognizing and hearing talent in Liz as both an artist and a songwriter, Ric took on the task of co-writing the remainder of Liz’s already in progress album, and further developing her as an artist.

Since that time, Liz has completed her first record, “Chasin’ Dreams,” scheduled for an official release in late 2010, and has had songs from the new album released to radio.  She continues her musical endeavor with dedicated passion, performing shows throughout the country, and is hard at work writing her next album.  Liz Kilgo currently resides in Nashville, TN.
